“The Digital Platform for Attorneys (DP-A) is an online platform that enables extensive automation and digitization of communication between lawyers and all actors of justice,” says Paul. “The platform was created through a protocol with the judiciary and the actors of justice (lawyers, notaries,...) and was effectively launched in 2018.”

DP-a asked them to take a look at their digital platform and investigate how the platform can even better meet the needs of the users. This is why they came to Harmony. “For many reasons and the feedback we get from the end user, we feel that the platform needs some innovation,” says Paul. “We've been around for five years now, in IT terms that's been quite a long time and a lot has changed since then. Because everyone is busy with the daily activities internally, there is little time and space left to manage such a project themselves. In addition, it is a great added value to take an objective and innovative view of the platform, which is easier when an external party does this.”

Team up for digital change! And that's what we did! Together with dp-a, we thoroughly reviewed the platform and processes. We mapped out the processes and customer journey in order to get a better picture of the current situation. Our business consultant Silana also actively interviewed a few lawyers about their experiences with the platform and what they're up against. “The collaboration with Harmony went very smoothly. Silana was mainly in contact with the lawyers. They are usually quite vocal, so if something would not have gone well, I would have known it right away. Moreover, the legal profession is a separate world with its own jargon and it is not always easy to find your way around it. Harmony did that very well,” says Paul. “We also found the cooperation pleasant internally at dp-a. For example, Harmony's consultants were always very easy to reach when we had questions, which is important for such a project. We also had unofficial meetings every week to keep a finger on the pulse.

The entire research process led to a few clear conclusions that dp-a can actively work with to make the platform future-proof. “The conclusion was different from what we had initially envisioned, but that is normal with such a project. We started working with these insights to further develop our conclusion, which we are still working on internally. In any case, the project has made things move internally and everyone is working on it, and that's how it should be. For us, these insights are very valuable to evolve! If you stick to your pockets, other players will overtake you without knowing it. Especially because our biggest partner is not the private sector but the judiciary itself. They are also entering the digital highway, so dp-a cannot be left behind. We want to further expand the platform and be the connecting factor between justice and lawyers,” concludes Paul.

“The legal profession was an unknown but a very interesting area for us. There is a lot of knowledge among the people internally. It is therefore very important to structure that knowledge and the process towards it so that everyone speaks the same language and the project is supported by everyone. It was a very exciting project that we really enjoyed working on,” said Maarten and Silana.
